Any movie fan who has ever been upset by the blatant lack of fantasy-horror-comedies set in the middle ages in today’s current movie market, has surely been awaiting the sequel to Army of Darkness, which has been just as long-rumored as it’s been long-awaited. Though there’s been some talk over the years that one day we might really get that follow up to Sam Raimi’s 1992 cult classic, for Army of Darkness fans like me, it was all just starting to sound like a mere pipe dream. Until now….At this weekend’s Wizard World Nashville Comic Con, the always charming and charismatic Bruce Campbell answered an audience question that implied will return for an Army Of Darkness 2. The 55 year old actor who rose to cult superstardom for his character Ash Williams explained that although “Ash would have to stop occasionally from chasing some deadite to catch his breath,” for the second installment of Army of Darkness, he said he’d be willing to, “fight in a walker,” use his cane as a weapon, or have a fake heart attack to fake out a zombie. And THAT’s dedication. Though he approached the topic with an obvious sense of humor, he answered the question with a solid, “yes” and confirmed in an interview with that he would indeed be reprising his role as Ash in the Army of Darkness follow up. So how close are we to getting this movie on the big screen? A few months ago director Sam Raimi said he was planning to work on the script for “Army of Darkness 2” this summer but no word since then on how much progress this project has actually seen. Considering this, do you take Campbell’s comments at face value? Hit the comments below and tell me what YOU think! Thanks for tuning in, I’m Erin Darling for Clevver Movies.
