Paul Giamatti talks about his future in The Amazing Spiderman franchise, and the sequels writing team land a deal for the third installment. Paul Giamatti, who is playing Aleksei Sytsevich aka The Rhino in The Amazing Spiderman 2, was promoting his new movie Parkland, and took some time to chat with Collider about his role in the upcoming Spider-man sequel. Giamatti said that he was completely shocked at how interested people seemed to be in his character, and that until this role, he had never had the paparazzi following him around on set. Clearly he doesn’t read the message boards! When asked about the possibility of a Sinister Six movie down the road, Giamatti said quote “it seems like that kinda thing. They’ve not told me anything hard and fast about that,” but the actor did admit that he had signed a multi-picture deal and that he would be locked in unless quote “they suddenly decided not to use me.” But what we thought was really fascinating is that and he seemed completely shocked that the studio had locked in two more Amazing Spider-Man release dates for 2016 and 2018, saying quote “Do they really have it THAT far ahead? See I only think…I think I’d only do the next movie. I don’t know if Im doing the next, next movie.” So, if Giamatti is only signed on for the next movie, could that mean that the 2016 slot is possibly primed for a Sinister Six movie? Or perhaps, The Rhino would just be back as the villain again? So many questions! And it will likely be a while before we start hearing what the exact plans are for the third movie, which hits theaters on June 10th, 2016, but we do know that Sony has already hired The Amazing Spiderman 2 writing team for the third film, which is of course Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Jeff Pinkner.
